What is a Film Society?
A film society is an organisation formed by a group of enthusiastic film viewers who prefer to have a say in the selection of films screened. Formed to bring the community together on a regular basis to enjoy films as a form of entertainment, but also to appreciate film making as an art form. It is a community organisation screening films that are not shown in commercial cinemas.
It is a volunteer run, non-profit making organisation, consisting of members who pay a membership fee. It has a committee who manage the affairs of the society and arrange screenings of the selected films.
